if they are on sale the noctua's are great as long as you don't need alot of static pressure. Otherwise the other brands mentioned here are fine.

I see the OP has his fans already, but for anyone else who visits this thread, check out these links about fan testing.

Read their testing methods and decide for yourself if they are accurate, but I think that they at least give you a general idea. I have some Noctuas (both varieties) and some Nexus 120mm, and they seem about equal to me, although the Noctua fans have nicer cables and accessories. But my oh my are they ugly.

I have tried MANY versions of SilenX fans, and their advertised noise specs are LIES!!!

What's the difference with the Gelid Silent 12 versions? One has 'Thermal Control' and the other has a model name of PWM.

Edit: *found some info/description*: "the thermally controlled TC and the pulse-width modulation controlled
PWM."

Still, I'm not sure whether either difference would appeal to such a great deal that I'd immediately choose one over the other. Is there something to keep in mind to persuade towards one over the other?

Or should I consider another fan? I might need one 120mm fan and maybe two (depending on whether I should use the SilenX I got a long time ago that never went into one of my computers!).

I'd like a Noctua but very expensive at $20!

Was using Gelid for almost 2 years - only good experience - always quite and not expensive!

Yeah I ordered them on sale for $3.50 a pop I think. I picked up a few spares as well. I've been more than happy with their performance so far. Quiet, with better than average air intake. Can't ask for much more from an intake fan.

What's the difference between Silent 12 and Wing 12? Something about static pressure? Is one ver. better for a certain function or fan spot in the case?

I love my Yates Loon fans. cheap, efficient and quiet. 4 of them in my P182 case at 60% and nothing gets hot. I wouldn't even know my machine is on if it weren't for the video card fan.
