Scythe Slipstream fans are terrible from everything I have heard. No static pressure, no airflow with any restriction.

Over the last year I have switched all my Yates out for Noctua's, and I couldn't be happier. I found the yate's to have a higher pitched noise that was pretty annoying in a rig that runs 24/7. The Noctua's seem to run smoother and I no longer notice my rig running. I will agree that they are overpriced and ugly, but I got lucky and either picked them up on sale or used from the BST section. I wouldn't pay full price for them ever.

Noctua's have there place in the cooling world much like any Fan. They use good bearings, good blade design which helps.
For some the colour sceme is too much and they lose a lot of sales by not having some type of variety. That being said there are a lot of other Companies that are making good fans too.
It all depends really on:

1) What your Budget is
2) What your Noise Tolerance is
3) What kind of performance you want.

I've gone through many different fans now, and I still go through them.
Noctua is great, but there are always options out there.
