Made a little mistake ordered the wrong fan...

Hi All!

Let me know what you think.

I want to increase air intake in my Antec 300 by adding a side-window 120mm fan. This is what I ordered:

I realized that the fan I picked is a 4pin PWM (basically a CPU HSF replacement fan). So I made a mistake (well a $6.99 mistake...nothing to write home about)

So my P5Q pro was only one 4pin header (CPU FAN).
I have 3 free 3pin headers (chassis fan headers).
So I'll have to connect that 4pin fan in a 3 pin header...BAD? I can live with the full RPM (56 CFM).
Any risks of breaking something/shorting???

also, I was trying to determine the CFM of my Antec True Power TRio 650Watts (probably running at 400watts max load). Info on that is pretty hard to find especially when it's a PWM-controlled fan...

It will work fine, it was design with this in mind as there are 2 ridges on the plug that will fit in to a 3 pin connector leaving 1 pin to over hang. Have a look here at the connector to see what I mean.

By the way I have 2 4 pin PWM fans plunged in to 3 pin headers on my board right now, and BIOS speed control still works although not by PWM but voltage amount.

What do you think of these little screen-mesh filters, like the one I bought ( $2.38 pricematched).
Ever used them? I think that with the bundled rubber mounts for the Gelid fan, this could be a nice combo.

No I never used these before but they look good (aesthetic wise). Most of the ones I've used have had foam filters and the one that came with my case is basically perforated plastic, they all seem to keep most of the dust out but pantyhose or nylons seems to be be best I've used so far LOL.
