Default Request review: Thermaltake FRIO

Any chance of HWC getting a review of this guy? I didn't even know TT was trying to get into the high-end air coolers, but lo and behold the Frio. 5x 8mm heatpipes and two 120mm fans included for $59.99 MSRP seems pretty decent to me.

Linkage: Thermaltakeusa»Cooler»CPU Cooler»Intel Socket LGA 1156»Frio : Frio CLP0564

I think slowly, ever so slowly TT is getting away from letting their Marketing and PR department run things and they are finally getting down to actually making Gear that we the users want.

That being said, this won't compete with the likes of the Big boys out there just yet but perhaps this is finally a move in the right direction.

I don't know about that, 5 8mm heatpipes is a LOT....

And I totally agree about the (terrible) PR stepping aside, I would actually consider buying a Thermaltake product now. Previously I think I would have avoided them the most out of any tech company - they had a TERRIBLE reputation (at least to me).

All the heatpipes in the world wont save a bad design. Look at the Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme. LOADS of heatpipes and potential....all hobbled by poor implementation. The fin array and base are what will make or break this TT unit. It will be interesting to see how it all pans out.

Found a brief review here: Thermaltake Frio CPU Cooler Reviews - OCIA.net - It supposedly keeps a Phenom II X4 965 @ 4.0Ghz/1.5V around 50 degrees C with both fans used. Interesting...

Can't wait for the HWC review!
