Default i7 920 in cm 690II

Recommendations for a good quiet cooler for a 920 @ around 4ghz in a cm 690 II advanced. I want acceptable temps but nice and quiet too. I'm ok with spending extra for better fans than a stock cooler provides.

Nothing against the h50 but is a pump with a fan going to be any quieter than a heatsink with a fan? I have read that the pump noise on a h50 can be quite annoying.

To aircool a 920 at 4 ghz you're going probably going to need a fan with a lot of CFM, and noise.

I'd recommend the Cooler Master Hyper 212+, got it in my CM 690 with some nocta fans mounted on them and some good air flow in the case. I typically will see temps around 70C max full load folding when my room is around 22-24C, and temps much lower as my room temp goes down (if i'm around 17-20C i'll see full load of temps as low as 55C).

I should note i at 3.8GHz and using the hotter C0/C1 revision rather then the cooler D0 which i assume you'll have if you are or have bought it recently.

D0's can be just as hot as C0/C1's. They're just awesome on voltage :). The CM Hyper 212+ will be a good pick for a low budget cooler.

Even with noctuas, more fan = more noise. Quiet is almost none existence with high overclocks on fan cooling. Unless you put them in a different room. And most of the time its the gpu thats loudest in the whole system.

My gtx 260's stock fan is louder than all 6 fans rated at >20dba.
