Default HSF help

i'm looking for a replacement for my Phenom II(AM3) cooler, but there's limitations/restrictions. my memory sticks, actually the shields
on them, are very tall.(50 mm/2" ) also total height cannot be more than 100 mm/4" . no, i am not getting shorter sticks or losing the shields. last, quiet. any suggestions?

in this picture, the first stick is 6 mm/1/4" away from the stock cooler, just to give you the idea.

i was looking at something like this:

http://ncix.com/products/index.php?s...facture=Noctua

but its 114 mm with the fan, so slightly too tall, but honestly i could sneak it in there if i had to,but not the most ideal. more importantly though, i can't tell if it'll clear my sticks.

Corsair H50? It'll fit, it'll be relatively quiet, but it is a bit expensive. There's the Zalman CNPS8700. (being defeated by this editor thing)

Are you running 4 sticks of memory? Have you checked to see if there was any real penalty to using the second bank of mem slots? Most manufacturer's "recommend" using the slots closest to the cpu, but in real world apps there's often not much (if any) difference to performance.

I used the other banks on my board for a while and saw no performance hit....I'd just move the sticks.

Thermaltake Typhoon Pro or Typhoon V14. They will sit higher than the those XMS sticks for sure and even provide some cooling given that it is a downdraft cooler.
