Default Xigmatek HDT-D1284

Would this be a good cooler for socket 775 in a low profile htpc case?

I did not notice any marked improvement with the "Direct Touch" technology as compared to other coolers with standard heat-pipes through the base. Xigmatek has however, changed the base on newer coolers so that it is now machined smoother. Perhaps these newer coolers will perform better?

Some try to not use a fan on the cooler in an HTPC to reduce noise even more. Are you planning on using a fan on the cooler? If you then you might want to check out how well this cooler performs without a fan against other coolers.
