Default Double sided tape for backplate.

Hi peeps.

I had removed my crossbow back plate when I had to RMA my motherboard and now I have to replace the tape. Anything to look for or can I just use any double sided type from the hardware store?

I don't even see why they come w/ tape. Its not as if the backplate moves around. Just put something in place so it doesn't ground out. Taping something to the motherboard that will always need to be removed later on seems like an awful idea to me

Well, I'll let you know why I want to replace the tape.

I removed the cooler many times and never had to remove my motherboard to hold the back plate while trying to screw the cooler back on. I wouldn't even want to imagine putting it back on without the tape to hold it there.

What I am really wondering, is if there are non conductive tapes that I should look for.

I'm fairly sure any double sided tape will work. You might want to get the foam kind just in case the board has some solder points where the tape covers.

If you re-mount the backplate carefully you won't need tape.. Even the TRUE back plates that instruct you to peel off and use the sticky stuff, which is a royal PITA to get off, I just use it as it is.. just put something foamy at the back..

I have done it one time, what I have done is the cover all the back of the socket with electrical tape. Work fine easy to remove ( at the time it get hot it wont stick any more so it stay here by the screw tightness ) It work fine for me.

Ask for more.
