Could you guys recommend a CPU heatsink?

Hey Guys,

I have a Q9300 processor with the stock cooler on it. I want to overclock my processor to around 3GHz. My main issue is that I don't want to remove the motherboard from my case to install the new heatsink. I have a Dell XPS 630i and I bet Dell made removing the motherboard hard! Could you guys recommend a good heatsink for me? I was originally looking at the TRUE and the Vendetta 2. I want the best temps possible! BTW, how long do you think my processor would last at that speed with good cooling?

Well if you are looking for good temps those coolers will do a good job but I highly recommend using a backplate with either one. Which will require mobo removal but ensure those stupid little pushpins don't let go and your hsf falls off. Not sure about the true having pushpins but the vendetta 2 does. Also be sure whatever hsf you use will fit in your case.

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus. Though you'll have to remove the motherboard.

If you really can't, then the Vendetta 2 is your only choice. The TRUE needs motherboard removal too.

Then the motherboard should be easy enough to remove. Looks like the stock heatsink has a backplate as well, which might need to be removed.

Either are good choices, i've been happy with the hyper 212 for its price point and how well it cools.

My Vendetta 2 with Thermalright bolt thru kit, gets me pretty good temps, I would definately recommend that. It can also be had for 20 bucks on sale, like last week.

Vendetta 2 have done miracle for me. The best thing I can say to you is look at these chart ( HWC cpu cooler chart )

Look at all the 10 first cooler I think 10 is a fait number, ok the 9 first ebcause the 10 is Coolermaster V10 code name piece of shit, and take the one you prefer between all these according to price and to look in your build. If you can't remove mobo then look into vendetta 2 it's your only option. Don't forget to see for Backplate if not included with cooler.

Thanks for all of the info guys! I think I might just go with the Vendetta 2! How easy is it to install the heatsink? And if I do choose to go with the Vendetta 2, will I have to remove the backplate of the stock cooler?

Vendetta II, Coolermaster 212 or the Xigmatek HDT-S1283... But make sure ur Dell mobo allows you to overclock too.

Yes, my motherboard does allow me to overclock! It is a Nvidia Nforce 650i SLI! So, to install those heatsinks, would I have to remove the backplate of the stock cooler?
