My System Specs

Question Top silent

Hey guys, I actually have a 120mm Yate loon 1350 RPM running on my rad but I think they are pretty noisy when on that position. I need a fan wich can be put on a rad and stay silent even at 100% fan speed and another witch is silent as hell to but is a little thinner than the first one( for push pull fan config on H50 ). I already take a look at Noctua and scythe but I have never experience these so this is why I ask my best forum.

Scythe Gentle Typhoons. They are all the rave over on XS. Pretty much the best CFM-to-Noise ratio for radiators fans it seems. People claim the 1850RPM one is even quiet.

+ 1 for gentle typhoons
Never did install them permanently in my rig altho they were dead silent and didnt produce the random tonal humming that noctuas do (hopefully somebody can explain this better)

The GT's are very nice, but they're no magic bullet. Ultimately, if you want a quieter fan, it needs to spin slower. You might consider the 800rpm variant of the Scythe S-Flex series, which is quite nice. I'm a fan on the Noctua's as well, and the S-series comes with resistors to lower fan speed as low as 900rpm.

Are the fans quieter when they're off the rad? Some fans get noisy when their blades are near restrictions, which a shroud can help fix. Other times, the fan just vibrates the entire radiator if it isn't mounted very well. Another possibility is that the bearings on the YL's are going, which happens now and then.

Could you define silent, what is a tolerable dbA for you? If you're talking about a general 20ish, then I'd recommend Gelid Gamer fan, it moves lots of air 25dbA, 58CFM@1500rpm.

For me silent about 20 DB less if possible but miracle never happen;) Yateloon where pretty correct but with the grid of the rad infront they are no more silent so I want to replace the two who are laying in my case by something better.
