I am using the Hyper 212 on an i7 920 (D0 stepping) with a room ambient that will often reach 28-29c in the summer (two computers folding 24/7 in the room) and my i7 is OC to 3.4ghz. My max temps running prime for about 11 hours is 71c, and folding the max temps are about 68c.

I believe the Hyper is doing a fine job for that OC, with the abnormal room ambient temps I have...

Window is open. I live in a basement apt and the window is a tiny thing in the top corner of the room, and the neighbour's house is feet away. No wind comes in there, and the AC does not cool the room much. The place is a frikkin dungeon...a folding dungeon.

That's weird, i more or less had/have the same "room" set up as my folding rig was in the basement with a tiny as window, no wind and a house right beside it, however leaving the window open overnight finally dropped the temps down in the basement for me.

Multimeter shows the temps in this room right now as 25c. I think It's actually cooler than that outside now. Again, two computers folding, two graphics cards in each, a CRT monitor, back of house with no airflow, bla bla bla.

Pretty hard to compare temps from one house to another though by window size, etc.

So all my parts for my build arrived and I plan on putting it together during Labour day weekend. As I said in my previous post, I've built a lot of systems but this is my first time using a cooler that wasn't a stock one (which is actually a blessing in disguise, using a mounting panel on the back will actually be a treat for me over fiddling with those plastic push pins yet again).

What direction do you recommend I install the 212 Plus in? North-south or east-west or does it not make enough of a difference to worry about? I'm using a HAF 922 as my case, by the way. Also, when you're only using one fan, does it treat that as an intake or exhaust? I assumed exhaust but the installation diagrams seem to suggest otherwise.

Generally, the best option is to go with the natural flow of air in the case which would be front to back. If you're using the stock fan, the rubber "standoffs" on the fan require that you use it in a push configuration.

Thanks for the assistance, guys. With all the horror stories I've heard, mounting the backplate was actually pretty easy. Overall it was the easiest and fastest build I ever did.
