Would the Yate Loons work? I believe they all have closed corners and as far as I can tell, the clips only work on fans that have open corners seeing as how they attach to the holes "closer" to the heatsink as opposed to those farther away. Take a look at stoanee's pictures to see what I mean. Also, since the Ultra Kaze has open corners, I'm sure it should work fine.

In any case, those tests sound great! I eagerly await your results.

I was looking at that. If I have to I'll just zap strap them onto the cooler rather than using the clips. ;)

I've also got some thin 1800 RPM YLs that I might get a chance to check out.

I dont have any good temps yet, I am just folding with it in a crappy case under a desk that has an open back and a front door. So far it is running at high 50's to low 60's while folding at stock speeds. As far as fans go all you have to do is cut the tunnel open with a dremel, hacksaw or file to allow the clips to fit.

I was looking at the YLs, and they also have "dimples" on either side of the channel. I'll probably drill the dimples out to see if the clamps will work that way.

What about Dremelling the "closed portion" out of the fan corners? Or, is that too ghetto?

FYI - NMB-MAT model 4710KL-04W-B19 is a 120mm closed frame fan.
NCIX.com - Buy NMB-MAT 120MMX25MM Low Speed Fan 1600RPM 63.57CFM 27DB 3 Pin Connector - 4710KL-04W-B19 In Canada.

NMB-MAT 120MMX25MM Low Speed Fan 1600RPM 63.57CFM 27DB 3 Pin Connector - DirectCanada

I think I will use my NMB-MAT for case intake.

Now that I've had a good look at the mounting brackets, this is what I'll be doing in the morning..... ;)

I'm not sure if I consider 1600 RPM to be low speed though... how well do these things downclock?

That NMB-MAT 120mm x 25mm fan has a very high static pressure.

I bought the open corner 38mm NMB-MAT fan and plugged it into the MB. The CPU fan sensor reports 1740 and I don't think the fan noise is annoying. I think this fan requires 7v min.

Buy Rexus Corp [FBA12G12L1BX] NMB-MAT (Panaflo) 120MM Hydro Wave Bearing Fan 1700RPM 68.9CFM 30DBA W/SENSOR 120X120X38MM RoHS

I purchased mine from Direct Canada.
