Default Should i change my cpu heatsink?
Im currently using a Zalman CNPS7500-CU LED Heatsink Fan with an e6600@3ghz, been using it for well over 2 years and i havent had any trouble with it. I just purchased a q6600, i dont know if i will overclock it, but if i do ill probably take it to 3ghz and leave it there.

Should i buy another cooler, or hang with the zalman, im also using arctic silver 5 as my thermal grese.

Figured id ask, been on an upgrading spree this week, figured id close all my options before my credit card bill arrives and i have regrets.

I can't see that heatsink having any trouble with a 3GHz overclock, so you might do well to just leave things as they are.

...all good advice...but you coulnd't go wrong with a Vendetta2! I LOVE mine...love love it! Usually find someone selling one for a decent price too.

Q6600's do pump out more heat than an E6600, probably close to double?

I'd personally say get a new heatsink. That's not even one of the tower Zalmans, it's a flower one without any heatpipes and such. It's 36.4C - 43.1C over ambient with a 150W heatload, which is pretty bad.

Its the Go edition, im going to let it run for a few weeks and see, if it is a big problem ill get that vendetta.

If you get the Vendetta 2....splurge for the crossbow backplate ;) The newer one is i7 and 775 dual capable so its a good investment...and then no worries with the crappy push-pins which are the STD mounting setup. IMHO the ease of installation and peace of mind is worth the extra $$.

Sure, the OCZ V2 is an upgraded clone of the Xigmatek S-1283 and uses the crappy pushpins for mounting. Here is the optional backplate for it. Better more secure mounting and better temps. :)
