Cannot understand those temps

Hi,

Here are my temps while folding on my 4890.

Case closed with one Noctua S12 exhaust on the side panel
CPU 50C
CPU 71C

Case opened (no side panel)
CPU 45C
GPU 70C

Case Closed with no side panel fan
CPU 47C
GPU 71C

Case closed with Noctua S12 input
CPU 47C
GPU 71C

So why is the best temps achieved with the case opened? not enough airflow?

You got that right. Cable management? Fans setups?

At a guess, either 1) your side panel fan is messing up your case airflow, and/or 2) your case has bad intake.

But currently I run the 4th setup so I have 3 noctua s12 input (2 in the hdd section and 1 on the side panel) and the 2 stock antec tricool exhaust fan. Should I reverse the rear fan? Or should I just run with the case opened?

there should be more airflow in the 4th setup compared to the 3rd? no? I mean an input fan create more airflow than a hole.

There is a simple way to add intake in your case but keep it sleek and cool;)

I had this in my case (NZXT Whisper ) and replace the stock fan by a yate loon 120...make sure to remove the little filter wich is scrapping all airflow. Will be silent has a pope fart and realy good intake.

He have already 2 x 120 fan on the font of the case, where he will place is dvd with a Kama-bay ? Are your tri-cool fan running at high speed ? Are the I/O cover plate there, in that case you better to have them install

How is your cable management? There are lots of fans in that little case, if I recall. Have you tried the side fan as exhaust instead of intake? The ATI cards run pretty hot too... not sure of the 4890, I would have to read Sky's review again to see what he said on heat.

I guess my cable management is ok. I've tried both exhaust and intake for the side panel. CPU with Intake 47C CPU with exhaust 50C. I don't care that much about the GPU temp, it's more the CPU temp that bother me.

edit; that picture is with my 4850 wich I sold and got a 4890. anyway, cable management is about the same.

Both tri-cool are exhaust and running at the lowest speed. The I/O shield is in place. And I know my case is not the best one for cooling but for $50 it's still a good deal. Might change it in the future too.

Can you remount and rotate your Vendetta? And have the fan pushing towards the rear. You have a lot of turbulencein that case with such a fan setup.
