True Black won't sit still!

Hey guys,

Before getting my TRUE Black, I was aware that it could swivel/move a bit even after being mounted. It wasn't until I tried it myself that I realized that it wasn't a bit of movement, it was ALOT! I've reseated it several times and it doesn't get any better, and we all know how fun that is... :angry2:

I'm worried that it will lift off one side of the cpu slightly when it sits sideways in my tower. Why is such a good/expensive product have such a sh*tty mount? Excuse my language.

What do you TRUE owners out there do to secure it in place? I've read people modding, putting washers or padding (cut piece of mousepad, lol) but I'm afraid that would degrade overtime due to the heat transfer.

So what do my fellow HWC'ers suggest? Am I just being overly paranoid?

Put a dime or rubber washer between the bracket and the upper part of the base.

Thanks Sky, it would seem that is the only logical thing to do without doing any crazy mods to the mounting clips or backplates.

I prefer a rubber washer over the dime/nickel. I'll check out home depot on my way home from work tonight to look for something suitable.

I'll report back on how I make out.

Well, normally most people just make out using their lips, tongue, etc. :haha: lol

But back on topic, just googling a quick search for "Thermalright mounting problem" will show ya that lots of people use pennies/dimes without issues. :thumb:

Hmmmm for such a high end cooler , one would think it wouldn't have such mounting issues...

Going to have to try this penny trick. Maybe it will net me a few more ˚C's.

I recommend buying a thick washer. The hole in the middle will fit the little post on the TRUE and it won't slide around. I use a washer about the thickness of a penny on mine and it works great.

I used some wire grommets (from an assorted pack at canadian tire) and my TRUE moves all of about...1-2mm side to side if i push it...
I put the grommets on the mobo itself and then screwed through them, works well, and provides extra peace of mind to boot

WOW! How did I know I was going to get crucified for that comment. lol
Sheeesh! I never knew HWC was full of comedians..haha

Thanks for the tips guys.

Oh, steel, nylon/plastic or rubber washers?
