It's a gimmick. But that said, I'm actually beginning to suspect that having some airflow across the back of my motherboard MIGHT be worth a degree or two, it a situation where the board is completely saturated with heat. Hard to say for sure, though. Have to try to test that sometime.

last question... what about install 80x80x15mm on back of CM690? it would be cheaper than install ifx-10

Agreed, but usually HTPC cases are rather small and fitting an IFX-10 inside would be tricky.

I'll certainly have fun trying to put it in my HTPC. I already have a CM GeminII inside a Sugo-03, lol. The IFX-14 however, won't have a nice processor to cool for a little while (at least not until some vacation days come around).
