new cpu heatsink
I'm putting together a new gaming rig and was looking for some advice on a good heatsink to get. I plan to overclock but nothing hardcore.

Antec P180 black mid tower
E8400 (may OC to 3.5ish)
G.Skill 2x2GB PC2-8000 DDR21000
EVGA GTX 260 Core 216 626Mhz 896MB 2.1Ghz

Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer
OCZ Vendetta II
Sunbeam Tuniq Tower

Also a friend has a thermaltake passive cooling heatsink but I don't remember which one.

Anyone familiar with these parts can recommend which would be the best? They are all roughly the same price so I'm mostly looking at what would fit best into my case with the P5Q

Those are all great choices, anything with the HDT technology will serve you well. Another one to consider is NCIX.com - Buy Xigmatek HDT-S1283 Direct Touch 3 Heatpipe Heatsink AM2 LGA775 S754 S939 S940 W 120MM PWM Fan - HDT-S1283 In Canada. same idea as what you have listed.

add a bolt-thru kit with the xigmatek and its simple to install, provides great cooling and the rest
Xigmatek version
NCIX.com - Buy Xigmatek ACK-I7751 Crossbow Mounting Kit for 3 Piece Heat Pipe for HDT-S963 HDT-S1283 RS-S1283 - ACXTACK-I7751 In Canada.
thermalright (need to removie pushpins yourself)
NCIX.com - Buy Thermalright LGA775 BOLT-THRU Kit for for Ultra 90/120 & HR-01 Retail Box - BTK-LGA775R In Canada.

OCZ Vendetta II has a good fan. I would also get the 775 bolt through kit from Thermalright and remove the pushpins.

After reading as many reviews and comparisons as i can there doesn't seem to be a common consensus about which of these are better:

OCZ Vendetta II
Xigmatech S-1283
Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer

I'm sort of leaning towards the OCZ because it seems like more people have this one based on signatures on this forum. I would get the thermalright bolt-thru kit and remove the push pins. And I already have some MX-2 paste.

Also I'm a fan of the OCZ brand name so I'll probably end up going that route unless someone can convince me otherwise.

Thanks for the help!

Acording to the review on this very site:

The OCZ very slightly outperforms the Xigmatek. They are almost identical to look at. Any one of the three will do you fine.

Vendetta 2 & 1283 perform ridiculously close together, but in either case they both work very well. The push pins are horrible so the bolt through kits are definitely advisable.
