Default OCZ Vendetta II temps

My E8400 45nm Wolfdale 'cpu temp' idles at 30C, and has hit 41C under moderate load (haven't tested full load yet).

Core 0 idles at 35 to 38C (varies depending on clock speed)
Core 0 has hit 48C under moderate load.
Core 1 idles at about 36C to 38C (same, it varies based on clock speed)
Core 1 has hit 42C under moderate load.

I have the EPU-4 energy saving feature, and during times of low/no activity my cpu will downclock itself to 2GH (roughly) to conserve power, then powers back up to 3GH during load.

I'm just wondering; what would you rate the temps I'm getting? I'm using the OCZ Vendetta II with the push pins (planning on getting mounting brackets as soon as possible), and OCZ Freeze thermal paste (of which I got a nice, thin, even spread).

If you want, use a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being too warm and 10 being ice cold.

And I'm well aware that i'm not getting 100% cooling from the vendetta II, im guessing the push pin system doesn't allow for a very tight press against the cpu, amirite...

Looks like your smack on target dude. I just put my similar rig together last week and your numbers look average. If your using pc probe that Asus provided I'd ditch that as the readings are way off(at least they were for me).
Use Real Temp. Run as Administrator, once it's up hit Settings and Set TJ max to 100 100
techPowerUp! :: Download Real Temp 2.70

Intels thermal specification for the E8400 CO stepping is 72.4C

and for the EO stepping it's 74.1C
