Did you contact Buffalo via the 1-800 tech support #? You'll probably have to wait until after the weekend, but they actually answer it... :)

I had similar issues with a 2X1 set (two sets actually) of 1066 mem and eventually just gave up and ran them sub 1000 with tighter timings. If your memory won't run @ 800 with the stated timings I'd definately consider returning them.
