To the OP; I've had so many Gigabyte boards (either personally or for customers) it's a joke. I'm talking 6 personally, and over a dozen for customers. Not one ever died yet - and I've pushed them to the limit, every single time. including the same board you have (the X48-DQ6 - sig).
As for your problem, I concur that the Crucials are probably dead. And if you wish to replace them, the Mushkin Redlines and Ascent lines work great with that board, right out of the box.
