Are Raptors worth it? Hmmm, the answer would be, it depends.
I went through about a dozen reviews yesterday, mostly the new Velociraptor
and its damn impressive, pretty much on par with many SSDs when in raid0
imo, if all your looking for is load times into memory for games and common apps,
forget it, an extra 2 or 3 seconds isn’t worth it, its just a one shot rush.
But if you have applications that access many files and often, like databases, servers,
or real time coding tools (object reference popups as you type), it’ll be well worth it. |
