Having shipped things to and from seagate on multiple occasions, their whole spiel about approved packaging materials is just to protect their own "butts" in case of shipping damage.
Go to the post office, or office supply store. Get a load of bubble wrap, and give the thing a good 1-2 inches of bubble wrap. Put it in a box and shove more bubble wrap or newspaper around it so it doesn't move.

They won't deny it unless it incurs shipping damage.
