Yeah I'm going to be getting a m1330 too myself for school this fall but I'm waiting until Dell refreshes it with Centrino 2. It'll have faster and lower power consuming processors along with the possibility of hybrid graphics (onboard + dedicated).

If you must buy it now, DO NOT get the 8400M GS. It has a known manufacturing defect making it run hotter than it should and thus prematurely dying. The work-around is increasing the fan speeds thus your battery life will suffer (might be noisy too). I really don't understand why Dell is still offering it but I guess they need to move all the old stock.
