My System Specs

Default i7-4770 and Dual R9 290X with Liquid Cooling in a Corsair 750D

i7-4770 and Dual R9 290X with Liquid Cooling in a Corsair 750D Build Log

First off, I would like to thank in advance for any and all feedback and support.

In this build, I will attempt to tame a hot running Haswell CPU and 2 fire breathing AMD Radeon R9 290X GPUs in Crossfire with a custom liquid cooling loop. This will be my first attempt at setting up one. I sure do hope this goes well!

I intend to use it as a workstation and for 4K gaming eventually (looking at getting the Dell 24" UP2414Q 4K monitor). I also want to achieve cool and quiet operation.

The Main Components

  • Intel Core i7-4770
    • I chose this processor because I need hardware virtualization support, and, as a developer, I may want to try out the transactional memory instructions.
  • MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming
  • 16 GB Kingston HyperX Black DDR3 1600 MHz RAM (KHX16C10B1BK2/16X)
  • 2 x AMD Radeon R9 290X Reference video cards

  • Intel PCIe NIC (EXPI9031CTBLK)

  • Seasonic X Series 850W PSU (SS-850KM3)
  • Corsair Obsidian 750D

Liquid Cooling Components

  • EK Supremacy CPU Block - Clean Acetal
  • EK Radeon R9 290X GPU Blocks with backplates
  • EK FC Terminal Dual Parallel 3-Slot
  • Swiftech MCP655 PWM pump

  • Alphacool NexXxoS XT45 Full Copper Triple 120mm radiator
  • Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 Full Copper Dual 120mm radiator
  • Phobya G1/4" Thread 3/8" ID x 1/2" OD compression fittings
