This is getting awfully close to verboten topics, but as a last comment in that vein... have you limited your upload? Most routers should be able to handle sharing between different PCs, but the one thing that can take down the whole network is saturating your upload speeds...

The other option is to check to see if your router has QoS settings which would allow you to specify either priority PCs, or possibly ports as well.

That's probably more in depth than we should go on the subject though.... ;)
