That's not entirely true, Minecraft with custom textures can eat as much ram as you let it. I actually wish I had 16gb instead of 8. My system is currently using 5gb (1.2 for firefox alone)

Don't waste your time with 16gb. You will NEVER use it all. NEVER. I've got 8gb and have not once come close to using more than 6 with any app. SSD and no page file. Games won't use more than 4gb total. I've got ram usage being monitored on my g19 lcd screen.
