As this is an insulator the temps you should be worried about are those under coating not above it. If it's cool on the outside, that means the heat is being held in, ie next to the components. It may be ok but it's not something I'd care to try except maybe on a low power system used mostly for e-mail and web browsing.

BTW, should have taped off the CMOS battery too in case it needs changing or removal.
Obsolescence is just a lack of imagination.
