My System Specs

Sub $500 your not going to get anything with amazing build quality. I think its mostly going to come down to your luck. I bought a acer with an amd a8 about 16 months ago for $400. At the price point I have no issues, but being picky its screen is not amazing and the keyboard is only ok (I was just after the cheapest laptop I could get to do light gaming for when I am away from home). My wife's laptop/upstairs internet computer is a lenovo i3 that I got about 10 months ago. I actually really like it and prefer it to the acer for screen and keyboard. Its re-certified, which I would normally not do, but it came with a full year warranty and never had a mark anywhere. It was $450 at FS and on sale for $300 at BB, so with the 10% of the difference price beat it was only $285 from FS). Lots of people praise ASUS laptops, but I have never had one.
