I usually end up using for games with lots of loading screens and find that it certainly helps with loading screens. They were almost non-existent in ME2 when I had it on the ram disk. With that software you can also use it to create images and then mount that image as a ram drive. It will then save back to the image file on a regular basis (configurable) so you don't lose everything if you lose power or something.
Replace all the .bik loading screen videos w/ a shorter video and it will be even on an SSD.
