It's been quite a few years since I played much with benching superpi (I benched to dial in my OCs not for competition), but back then memory timings played a huge role. Proc might be limited to 4G (which BTW is a great idea IMO as it doesn't limit the competition to just folks with golden procs, and/or folks using extreme cooling) but the sky's the limit on your memory speed and timings. While it might not be a huge difference on intel procs, I suspect bus speed might have a small affect as well. :)

edit: so looking at the rules WRT superpi there's no restrictions on turning off cores? That might have an affect on a single thread App..... ;)
