Well you could save a lot of money if you build a pc from the parts people sell on here, as well as your local kijiji or craigslist classifieds.

For a $1000 desktop pc, I would highly suggest going AMD instead of Intel due to its much lower price, unless you go i3.

Heres an 'idea' based off stuff from NCIX however i would urge you to consider Tigerdirect.ca and Newegg.ca as well for a wider variety of parts.

AND dont forget the people here who are selling their used stuff. It will most likely be cheaper!!!

AMD A10-5800K - $134.98
ASUS F2A85-M Pro mATX - $129.99
Crucial Ballistix Elite 8GB 2X4GB PC3-12800 DDR3-1600 - $62.99 or Patriot Viper 3 8GB 2X4GB PC3-12800 DDR3-1600 - $59.99
Powercolor Radeon HD 7870 PCS+ MYST.(TAHITI LE) (Call this an HD 7930, it makes more sense) - $239.99 + It comes with Never Settle Bundle Free Bioshock Infinite & Tomb Raider Digital Download Coupon *AMD Promo Only* (a $129.99 value!)
Fractal Design Define Mini mATX Computer Case - $99.99
(you should be able to find cheaper but this has usb 3.0 in the front and i think fractal design has a part to change all front usb to 3.0) otherwise,
Antec VSK-3000E mATX Computer Case - $24.98 (you can get a 3.5" front pannel usb 3.0 thingy to put on separately)
Silverstone Strider 750 Plus 750W Modular Power Supply 80+ Silver - $130.20 (you can find cheaper but this is excellent quality for a lower price compared to others)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo - $34.98 (you probably wont need this)

So those are the highest cost main components listed which cost: 833.12 + 124.968 (15% tax, we dont have that but thats how i do t'ings) = $958.088
the cheaper alternatives cost less of course

other things:

Samsung 840 Series 120GB 2.5in SSD - $119.99
Samsung SH-224BB 24X SATA DVD Writer - $22.98
ASUS Xonar DGX 5.1 Soundcard - $49.99
Microsoft Windows 8 Pro 64Bit - $149.98
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Edition 64BIT DVD - $149.98
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 64BIT DVD - $189.96
+ Hard Drives and Monitor

Just to say, the prices listed were NCIX's regular prices. Some things are a lot cheaper when on sale.

Have fun!!!
