There's definitely a performance gain to be had from defragging for the OP because of that 5400RPM laptop hard drive. As Nodscene mentioned there will only be a noticeable difference if the a lot of the stuff on that hard drive is ignored by Windows defrag (e.g. hard drive very full, very large files, hibernation file fragmentation, etc.)
