I was thinking of getting a new power supply for a future video card. I currently have a Thermaltake 500w power supply but i have been told 500w isn't enough for a high end video card. How much power do i need to run a single high end card such as a GTX 680 or a Radeon 7900 series card. I am looking for any power supply (no preferences) that can run the video card and the rest of my system.

System specs:
Intel Ivy Bridge core i5 3470, 8GB ripjawz x RAM, GigabyteB75M-D3H, Samsung 500gb and a Samsung DVD burner.
You can run a 680 or 7900 on a Quality 500W unit. The IB takes very little power. However I would not Trust the Thermaltake unit to be up to the task.
Good High quality units would be:

Antec Earthwatts EA550 Platinum 550W 80PLUS Platinum 4X30A Active PFC 120MM DBB Fan Power Supply

Corsair Enthusiast Series TX550M 550W ATX Modular Power Supply Active PFC 120MM Fan 5 Year Warranty

Seasonic M12II 520W EPS12V 20/24PIN ATX PFC 80+ Bronze Modular Connectors 6PIN PCI-E 120MM Fan

XFX 650W PRO650W Core Edition Single Rail ATX 12V 53A 24PIN ATX Power Supply 80PLUS Bronze PSU

Any of those should suffice. Though if you have the cash , the Antec one is the best and newest of the bunch.
