Seagate used to do really really good drives but in more recent years they have been questionable(understatement in some cases) and with the drop to a 1 year warranty they are one of the last drives I recommend
(though they are great value if you don't have any issues)

It is all luck of the draw, the best will have failures and the worst will have units that never develop a problem.

I've been really lucky with all my HDD's (touches wood) but I have stuck to WD blacks since their release. I've never had a single issue with them in any of the many builds I've done for myself/others.
That said a friend of mine had 2 raptors die within a week of each-other.. Nothing is full-proof
