Well someone had to come out with this - I was actually expecting it to take another 6 months. I'm glad it's Kingston though - I wouldn't trust my data to one of those unknown brands.
I could see something like this being useful for embedded systems / data logging, e.g. miniature camera where the size of a 2.5" enclosure or a clicky hard drive that doesn't like accelerations would be a downside. For anything bigger you're probably better off with a 2.5" SSD for the performance or a HDD for the $/GB.
For the record, I think of things like this because I built a plant monitor for a school project - I'm not keeping tabs on any humans in this way
