Default New build or parts change?

I don't know if I should buy a new computer or simply change a few parts so I figured I could get help from experts

This is my computer :
2 year old
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Monitor Model: BenQ G2255 (shittiest monitor i ever got)
Display: 1920 x 1080
System Model: Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P
Processor : AMD phenom II x3 720 BE 3.0ghz no OC
Memory: G.Skill 4096MB PC2-8500 (i believe it runs slower than it should 533mhz according to cpuz)
Card name: ATI Radeon HD 4890 1gb
Hard drive: 2x WD 640gb caviar green in raid 0 (also have a 500gb usb3 that goes with my laptop)

Rated 5,9 on windows experience index haha! xD
Case, sound system, cd/dvd, etc. is not really worth mentionning.

This is what I use the computer for :
Mostly watching steaming and gaming (diablo 3, dayz, warz, hon, sc2, battlefield 3, me3...) I also do some photoshop/illustrator and video editing.

This is the problems :
1. Compared to newer cpus, mine feel chubby and slow. I simply can't run new games on the highest settings w/o some lag and long loading times (I even get lags while playing diablo 3 at highest but again maybe the game is just @ :).
2. My computer is getting old, there is weird stuff happening time to time. Ex : my monitor would suddently turn off, i would then need switch it to the other hdmi socket on my gfx and it would work again. Altrought, maybe a fresh windows install would fix all that... Im starting to think that someday it'll go "poof" with black smoke X)
4. I hate my monitor it takes 10s to 20s to boot and the brightness sucks for any "night time" gameplay (its all white I can't see anything!)

I think (i would like you input on this) I can sell the whole setting for around 1000$ to 1200$ if I'm lucky.

With that money can I buy a better rig or is it better to change some parts? What would be the changes? (add a SSD? add 4gb Ram? buy a new graphic card or go crossfire? overclock? tweak some things (I really don't know wich ones tho?)

Any input is very much appreciated.

Thank you!

(sorry for the bad english)
