I have the ROG Maximus V Formula mobo,and the Phoebus beats the hell out of it's on board sound. Even a lesser sound card will sound better. Not too much less,but a decent sound card is the way to go. I have used Creative cards for years,but I find the Xonar series sound cards to be the absolute best for gaming.
