Thanks for the link, I'm using that post as a general guideline as it is... gonna give it another shot in the next week. I can't help but find it frustrating when you're not sure whether there's some setting, voltage etc. that you're missing... or it simply could be the hardware is not capable, no matter what you do.

That said, there aren't too many things a good whack of voltage won't fix:)
