If you plan on going 27" or larger, the screen needs to be 1080p, and those start at 32". Westinghouse makes 37" and 42" computer monitors (LVM-37W3, LVM-37W3se, LVM-42W2). Really, they're TVs, but they're considered monitors because they lack built-in tuners. They're quite good as monitors if you ask me.

Anything beyond 42" is really too large as a monitor. The pixel pitch becomes too great.

However, when you're spending that much, you might as well get a Dell 2707WFP or 3007WFP-HC. The 2707 is probably a better choice, as it has a 1920x1200 resolution; 3007 is a whopping 2560x1600. You can snag a 2707WFP for a couple hundred less than a 32" or 37" 1080p LCD, and it'll have considerably better colors and contrast.
