If your GPU is being bottle necked then all you will see is a performance increase... (without monitoring anything, and with the hardware being used, not the type of user to do that)
but when you get a new CPU you'll see more as you have the extra cpu power and the GPU will be able to run 100%

Short version.. Even if the GPU gets bottle-necked, you will see more of an increase from a GPU bump than a CPU bump.
