+1 for the GPU upgrade.
I had a HD5750 + 720BE @3.6 and thought I would upgrade, the CPU. So I bought a 1090t before they became rare and OC'd to 4GHz, and I noticed very little change in my gaming, then I bought a HD5770 to crossfire and AWSOME results in all the synthetic tests, but horrible stutter whenever First Person views were rotated so I would say go for a single card solution, I picked up a GTX480 for $200 at New egg its hot but its fast.
