I'm currently having no problem running BF3 and Skyrim on Ultra settings, so I have NO idea what you're talking about.
Keep in mind that I'm not saying the 2500K isn't a better processor than any current AMD quad core (because it is), just that a higher end Phenom II is more than capable of playing any PC game currently out there, and probably a good many to come.
