If you run programs that are really RAM intensive and you need lots of ram go LGA2011 since it supports quad channel. For general gaming I would go LGA1155 and I wouldn't really wait for ivy bridge unless you can wait in which case the sandy bridge chips will be a lot cheaper by then.
