Well after that emasculating "
Pretty in Pink" project for my daughter I had to get my testosterone levels back up with a hardcore project for my son. That and the look on his face when he realized he'd have to share a pink PC until I'm done.
The list of parts for this project isn't, in itself, impressive. I've put together some pieces that will result in a budget gamer, but a gamer nonetheless. Some of it purchased from our very own forum members and some from my new best friend
DirectCanada.
Intel Core Duo E6400 CPU
Arctic Freezer 7 Pro HS
Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 Mobo
2 x 1G Corsair XMS2 PC6400 800Mhz RAM
Sapphire HD2600XT GPU
Samsung DVD-RW Burner
Maxtor 250G HD
Antec Trio 550W PSU
Windows Vista Home Premium 32Bit
All of this is going into my original Antec 1080AMG case. It's a good case and I did like the gunmetal gray when I got it about 5yrs ago, but it's time for a change.
So there is the stock photo of the original 1080AMG, mine's in good condition, after all it was my baby for a few years. Even after suffering a couple under my kids feet, literally, it's still not too shabby. But as I said it's time for a change.
I took it apart and painted the whole thing black. I will post pics but for now I only have one of the side panel to show you where this project is going and why it's aptly named.
That's the concept
SkullFire. I'm just doing this with a cutout bristleboard template and a regular spray can. It's not finessed in any manner, but it still looks cool for a first attempt. I'll have to get myself an airbrush kit and delve into finer methods later.
As I said I'll post some of the other development pics and then updates as I go. I'm planning this motif all over and some Red led fans to add to the fiery pit theme.
