I wouldn't know as I just use CCleaner to blast all the cookies on my computer weekly
Back to the OP, I use MSE and I'll admit I gave MBAM free another go when I saw this thread. I can't comment on either of their detection rates as I haven't tripped either one of them. I suppose either my computer is always malware-free or infected with a rootkit
On my Windows boxes, I like running MSE as an early-warning system as to whether I should revert to an older drive image. My Linux installs don't use any antivirus, although I assume I'm safe enough with Fedora SELinux / OpenSuse AppArmor as it doesn't even let me do legit things like set up network shares without going nuts on me.
