Completely true, I have an Onkyo HT system, you just connect the optical output from the mobo to it and you select the modes from the receiver. Me, I found that DTS Movies/Music worked best for me. And of course the wiring is a nightmare and of course if you want to watch a movie at 10 pm you really need to consider headphones. For the moment the system is in a box, I really enjoy it much more just with my headphones, will get myself a used Audigy 2 ZS and game on.
