That being said, most things on Android do require data connectivity and the major items (contacts, email, etc) are synced to your Google account automatically. There's also the recently released Google Music (only USA if I recall) that lets you stream your music collection over the web. So it definitely has "cloud" functionality.

Even Google Maps/Navigation relies solely on data with no locally stored maps.

And to the OP, there's other OS'es that do similar things like Jolicloud for example.
