Not to throw water on the tepid fire, but...

If AMD's transition from 130nm to 90nm, and 90nm to 65nm is anything to go by, prepare to be underwhelmed.

Also, AMD has nothing that will seriously threaten Nehalem. The planned competitor is 'Hydra', aka K10.5 Rev. D: 45nm, 1MB L2/6MB L3 cache, up to 8 cores. That is simply not enough to beat an architecture that has been on the books for the better part of a decade.
