Ram is pretty cheap. Not so long ago I paid over $500 for 12GB of DDR3 1600mhz.
If I didn't already have a sandybridge CPU and mobo I would get a 2011 mobo/CPU. A $1000 to upgrade isn't a wise investment. Especially since I pretty much just game.
