Default Gaming PC build, compatibility and recommendations? Budget $1200 - $1500

I'm planning on building a PC that can run Skyrim on max settings with no lag and able to run battlefield 3 on high - max. I have some parts I'm curious about, will these components work?

Motherboard: ASUS P8P67
CPU: Intel Core i5-200k
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake CLP0579 Contact 30 CPU Cooler, 12v
GPU: Radeon HD 6950
RAM: Corsair Dominator Dual Channel 8192MB PC12800 DDR3 Memory
HD: Western Digital 1TB @7200 RPM
DVD Drive: Sony Optiarc AD-7260S-0B 24x DVDRW Drive
Power Supply: Thermaltake TR-500 TR2 ATX Power Supply - 500W
Case: NZXT M59-001BK M59 Gaming Mid Tower Case

my main concern is the cooler, i'm not sure if it's compatible with my mobo.
If it isn't, what cooler do you recommend?
is the power supply strong enough?
radeon 6950 or gtx 560 ti?
Also, do i need a DVD drive like that or can i save money there because i'll mainly be using it for gaming and not movies.
And lastly, will these specs be able to meet my expectations? thanks a lot.
